Awkward
Essentially LORD OF THE FLIES for a modern viewership. I found it quite awkward and unconvincing, although the young cast members certainly do their best with the material. I didn’t like the fantasy aspects giving their mock battles more power and impact than they really had, that felt false and showy-offy to me. Some of the bullying scenes are mildly uncomfortable but this kind of plot has been done much better elsewhere – try MEAN CREEK for example.
