A really good film
We find here some really incompetent 1-3 star reviews. I understand why some rated it low; it’s a slow burner that didn’t meet sci fi expectations or fill anyone’s adrenaline addiction. But this film deserves far greater recognition. If this had been a dramatization of a real event, it might have been regarded as an exceptional film. They could have dropped the science fiction wrapping and made this simply a film about humanity and relationships; it would have served far better and perhaps been more highly regarded.

But in this case the sci fi is merely a sub-plot within a greater story. The trappings were about plant growth, but in truth the overall film is about personal growth.

If anything, the science fiction element detracts a bit from this, which is why I give it 8 stars instead of 10. But that 8 stars is for directing, cinematography, music and some of the best acting we’ve seen in quite some time. Clayne Crawford does an exceptional job in the main role. The supporting actors do very well. That’s the real winner in this: the characters are believable. The sci fi is just sort of thrown in.

Overall the story being told is good– a far distance from “one of the worst movies ever made”. Those who rated this 7 to 10 stars have good reason for doing so.

If one is into spaceships, aliens, huge planetary explosions, laser battles, space babes or disaster flicks… this isn’t the film for you. But if one goes into this looking for good acting, sensible story telling and unique characters, while the plot is a little unexpected… this is a gem of a film.Read More
