Plot Summary:

Former race car driver Brent Magna is pitted against the clock. Chased in Bulgaria
Getaway is a bottle film but with extensive location shooting in Bulgaria. Ethan Hawke plays Brent Magna a former racing driver now living in Bulgaria whose wife gets kidnapped, he receives a phone call and is told that he must follow instructions and that includes stealing a Shelby Mustang, evading the police and then dealing with an American teenage brat (Selena Gomez) who he just happens to come across in Sofia.

The car is rigged with cameras and microphones so the controller (Jon Voight) can see what Magna is up to and can constantly threaten his wife’s well being as well as give him further instructions. As with these type of films Magna is confused as he wants his wife back and carries out what is required of him. This includes smashing up parts of Sofia, endangering innocent lives and the lives of policemen in high speed chases.

Its Gomez when she is not irritating who has the brains to figure out what the bad guys are up to and persuades Magna to take control of his predicament.

Fast and Furious this is not. Its shot in a cheap style, we have the same shots used repetitively such as Hawke slamming the brake and the accelerator. The script is lame and illogical and it really has straight to DVD written all over it despite featuring a best actor Oscar winner and a triple Oscar nominee.Read More
